"Made in 3D - Seed the Future Entrepreneurs" Program Season 2021

Creating a Culture of Innovation and Entrepreneurship in India - A National Level Program for School Students

With the success of “Made in 3D – Seed the Future Entrepreneurs” program in India in 2020, La Fondation Dassault Systemes is now launching Season 2021 of this program in collaboration with Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), Niti Aayog, Govt. of India (https://aim.gov.in/). “Made in 3D – Seed the Future Entrepreneurs” program is in perfect alignment with Atal Innovation Mission’s Student Entrepreneurship Program initiative.

Made in 3D - Seed the Future Entrepreneurs program was conceptualised and rolled out in France by La Main à la Pate Foundation and La Fondation Dassault Systèmes Europe in 2017.
In 2020, La Fondation Dassault Systemes in India adopted this program for Indian schools students and enriched it to next level.

Made in 3D – Seed the Future Entrepreneurs program is specially designed program to inspire school students to become future innovators and entrepreneurs. The program objective is to Create Culture of Innovation and introduce ‘school going children’ to the world of start-ups. The program aims to equip school students with entrepreneurship and innovation mindset, provide them appropriate exposure through activities based learning / exploration / challenges and through it prepare them for future. Through this program, school students from 7th to 10th grade (age group 12 to 16 years) will be introduced to the exciting world of “makers” and “startups”. Students of  11th / 12th grade who are already  part of ATL Marathon top teams will be allowed to participate. For young students, such an opportunity will help them to develop innovation mindset in the young age.

As part of this program, a team from each school (6 students and a teacher) will work as pseudo start-up, design a dream product, make it using 3D printing and prepare marketing campaign for their dream product with promotional videos, video advertisements, define product pricing and pricing strategy. Each of these pseudo will receive seed funding like a real startup and they will manage everything within this seed funding. With this they will receive real feel of ‘How a startup works!’. At the end of the program, each school’s startup will participate in a playful competition and present their marketing campaign.

50 schools from 26 states

The India edition of the “Made in 3D - Seed the Future Entrepreneurs” program started in 2020 with ten schools from Pune, Maharashtra. For season 2021, we are expanding it to 50 schools from 26 states of India. Criterion considered for selection of 50 schools are: Atal Innovation mission’s marathon ranking (from Top 50), appropriate representation and spread across India, appropriate mix of schools from metro cities, interior parts of country, aspirational districts and inclusiveness.

To encourage inclusiveness, out of these 50 schools, we are providing opportunities for:

  • 10 schools from Aspirational Districts identified by Government of India for overall development of these districts
  • 10 schools from Northeastern states, Jammu & Kashmir, and Ladakh to give opportunities to the students from these regions to be part of such innovative program.
  • Girls’ Schools and Schools from rural areas

School teams, which will work as student start-ups, will design products based on 3 themes:

  1. Biomimicry  - Products inspired from Nature
  2. Scientific Toys – Toys designed on scientific principles, or toys that explain science
  3. Devices / Products for Farmers / Villagers / Rural Ecosystem

One of the interesting part of the program will be interaction opportunities for students and teachers, between French and Indian schools. In addition to the development of Innovation mindset and exposure to start-up culture, school students and teachers will have a unique opportunity to interact and collaborate with French schools and French students for cultural and technical interactions.

La Fondation Dassault Systemes and Atal Innovation mission has launched season 2021 of this innovative program in India to help our next generation students to be 'Future Innovators, Future Entrepreneurs and Creators of Self-Reliant India’.
