Innovation Hub School

Nurturing the innovation culture among young students

Instilling an interest in engineering for students age 10 - 15

School students are always curious to know how things work. They have many questions about the things they observe around them, about the gadgets they see and use. Many times they do not get satisfactory answers. The primary objective of the Innovation Hub at the Muktangen Exploratory Center in Pune is to encourage and facilitate students to solve real life problems using scientific principles and technologies learnt through interactions with specialists (mentors).

Experiment and learn through activities

In addition to the problem solving skills, the students will also be guided in designing and fabrication of the final solutions. While doing so, the Hub will also aim to develop basic skills that are essential for day-to-day life among young children such as woodwork, metal fabrication, electrical wiring, plumbing, etc.

Besides developing the basic skills, the children will also be exposed to two important elements: Insight into “how things work” through access to gadgets used in daily lives and to promote “quality culture” through emphasis on aesthetics and “fit for use” concepts.

The idea is for the young children to explore and express their creative ideas and innovative ideas and bring them to fruition (i.e. realization, completion) to a product that can serve a social need and even to bring it to commercial level.

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development

Adopted by all United Nations Member States, provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are an urgent call for action by all countries - developed and developing - in a global partnership. Dassault Systèmes La Fondation Innovation Hub project supports two of these goals: Quality Education and Partnerships for the Goals.

Dassault Systèmes La Fondation is proud to support the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Muktangan Exploratory Science Centre, Pune

This Innovation Hub is jointly supported by Dassault Systèmes La Fondation in India and the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM).

Muktangan Exploratory Science Centre > La Fondation Dassault Systèmes

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan is an all India non-profit educational and cultural organization established in 1939. Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan established the Muktangan Exploratory Science Centre (MESC) in 1992 and is a distinctive Science Centre, which aspires to stimulate curiosity and arouse science learning in young children.

The Centre values science as an indispensable tool for understanding the world around us. Children from different schools are encouraged to experience science by performing experiments and activities in seven well-equipped state-of-the-art laboratories to compliment formal education. Here children learn to explore and experiment, invent and innovate. The Centre is working ceaselessly over two and half decades, to generate inquisitiveness, develop scientific attitude and temperament in children. Exploratory takes these budding scientists on an unending journey of exploration.
